Job Description
Broad Function and Purpose of Position:
Act as a technical lead for manufacturing processes, the Process Engineer will oversee, coordinate, and execute plans to improve safety, quality, supply, and efficiency.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Process Engineering Manager with latitude for the exercise of independent judgment in fulfilling day-to-day job responsibilities.
Specific Responsibilities:
Work with department managers and other personnel in Marion to identify opportunities to improve uptime; provide support to production operations.
Manage the start-up of new equipment, or rework of existing equipment, to ensure production needs are met.
Help maintain safe and clean work environment in accordance with Sika Housekeeping policy.
Implement changes in existing manufacturing processes, equipment and facilities; engineer new processes, to increase production capacity and reduce/eliminate bottlenecks.
Analyze and review opportunities to improve production efficiencies, improve product quality and reduce operating expenses.
May participate in capital project design and execution.
Review new and existing layouts of machines and equipment to obtain optimal performance, recommend and implement changes.
Expand and remodel production lines to improve effectiveness of processes and equipment.
Manage vendors and contractors to ensure compliance with Sika’s health, safety and behavior standards and to monitor progress toward project completion within agreed upon timeframe budget.
Develop written standard operating procedures and Lock Out Tag Out instructions.
Participate in initial phases of new product rollouts to determine effective manufacturing methods and lead product production trials.
Perform other work and projects as required by the Process Engineering Manager.
Qualifications
Qualifications/Experience:
Education: BS degree in Chemical Engineering required.
Years Experience: 2 - 4 years experience in a manufacturing environment, including experience with health and safety regulations.
Special Requirements/Competencies:
Must have strong interpersonal skills, effective oral and written communication skills, and proficiency in computer applications.
Must have knowledge of OSHA regulations and guidelines and ability to prepare and maintain required documentation.
Independent worker, with strong organizational skills, who requires minimal supervision.
