Summary:
• Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of asphalt milling and/or support detail/clean-up crews.
• This position will primarily perform supervisory duties, but on occasions may assist with general laborer and equipment operation tasks as needed.
• Must be able to work nights and weekends as required.
• Responsible for safety of the crew and quality of workmanship.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provides direction, training and assistance to the asphalt crew.
• Tours job sites to assess progress in meeting time schedules, to detect insufficient utilization of workers and equipment.
• Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and crew performance.
• Measures slope and material thickness to verify compliance with contracts and to supervise the job.
• Communicates daily with Project Manager or Project Superintendent to discuss schedule and production needs.
• Maintains time and materials records necessary to complete daily job costing.
• Ensures the safety of crew members and the public who may interact with job.
Education and Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of paving experience and working knowledge of all asphalt milling equipment.
• High school diploma or GED or equivalent technical training and related experience required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Must have safety knowledge.
• Must have knowledge of traffic control.
• Must have a valid drivers license (CDL preferred).
