Position Summary: The Fiber Services Team of Mercury Wireless builds and services all of Mercury’s fiber network.
The technician should be professional in attitude and appearance and engaged with other team members and construction manager’s needs.
Fiber Services should be mindful and thorough in their work; following installation and safety guidelines, and instructions from the Fiber Team Leader.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
Installation of fiber plant equipment at Mercury design premises
Assist with new fiber plant construction, vaults, pedestals and conduit
Drill and Plow Operations
Interact with customers, land owners and inspectors and represent the company in a professional manner
Troubleshoot customer equipment at premises
Troubleshoot and resolve network outages
Responsible for assigned work orders ensuring completion and closeout
Assist Fiber Team Leader and Fiber Foreman with running crews
Assist in training OSP Technician I and II
Manage vital business relationships and troubleshoot complex issues
Respond to and facilitate resolution of Network tickets
Assist with new site construction, planning and ordering materials
Skills & Requirements:
Follow directions from Fiber Foreman and Fiber Team Lead
Comfortable working in the Right of Way, working with shovels
Primaryily operates underground drill rig and vibratory plow
Knowledge of Potholing utilities and Marking for utilites
Knowledge of Fiber drop crew to customer premises using vibratory plow
Follow safety guidelines and safe working practices
Basic mechanical skills
Knowledge of and ability to operate basic hand and power tools
Basic computer skills and proficiency with computers
Basic computer networking skills and knowledge
Use of PC based applications to program and diagnose various communications equipment
Clean driving record and valid driver’s license
Self-Motivated
Customer service oriented and professional in appearance
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
2 to 4+ years as OSP Technician II or equivalent on job experience
