*3rd Shift CNC Lathe Operator* Are you interested in an opportunity to join a leader in the pump industry? The Gorman-Rupp Company, headquartered in Mansfield, Ohio, has been designing, manufacturing, and selling pumps and pumping systems for use in water, wastewater, construction, industrial, original equipment, agriculture, fire protection, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning, and other liquid-handling applications for over 80 years.
This 3rd shift position will perform duties to make a variety of setups, operate and maintain single spindle, computer programmed turret lathe to perform all types of rough and finish continuous path or point to point machining operation, where work is rotating, on a variety of parts of different materials used in the manufacture of centrifugal pumps.
*Essential Functions and Basic Duties* *Assumes responsibility for the correct and timely completion of production functions through the operation of lathes.
* * Operates production machinery to complete assigned tasks.
Sets up lathes with data provided by the Company.
* Sets up all production machinery and equipment.
* Inspects parts visually and uses measuring tools to ensure compliance to specifications and drawings.
Documents results as required.
* Performs re-inspections and re-work as requested.
* Maintains machinery including cleaning and making necessary adjustments.
Informs management of any significant problems with machinery.
* Work from program instructions and blueprints process set up sheet.
Use a variety of precision measuring equipment during machine, tool and fixture set-up and adjustments.
* Position, align and secure fixtures in chuck or to a faceplate on set-up and operational sketch.
* Observe control panel indications, number display lights.
Use air or coolant hose to remove chips from completed parts.
* Work simultaneous on multiple machines.
*Assumes responsibility for completing production functions in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
* * Follows established production procedures and instructions.
* Meets quality and safety standards.
* Meets deadlines.
* Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
* Assemble and preset tools with aid of special fixture or optical tool setter equipment to predetermined dimensions, install preset tools, individual tools to tool posts and turrets.
* Input program into memory of control system.
Operate machine to verify program.
* Observe control panel indications, number display lights.
Use air or coolant hose to remove chips from completed parts.
*Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining good communications, coordination, and working relations with Company personnel and with management.
* * Assists and supports production personnel as needed.
* Keeps supervisor informed of area activities and of any significant concerns.
Identifies problems and provides suggestions.
* Attends meetings as required.
* Obtain program from Programmer or D-Log storage located at machine.
Read process sheet, obtain tooling and fixtures, and determine set-up, work sequence and dimensional sizes.
* Work cooperatively with Programmer, and Manufacturing Engineer to prove out new program and tooling.
*Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
* * Completes special projects as assigned.
* Completes reports and documents accurately and timely as required.
*Education/Certification* High school graduate or equivalent.
*Experience Required* At least one year of experience in operating manufacturing equipment.
*Required Knowledge* Understanding of basic principles of machine operation.
Understanding of production standards and procedures.
*Skills/Abilities* Quality orientation and attentive to detail.
Good manual dexterity.
Cooperative and willing to assist others.
Ability to closely follow written and verbal instructions.
