*JOB DESCRIPTION* *JOB TITLE: CNC Machinist I -2nd shift Monday - Friday 2:00pm - 10:30pm* *DEPARTMENT: Production* *REPORTS TO: Manufacturing Manager* *FLSA STATUS: non-exempt* *POSITION FUNCTION* * Operate one or more computer numeric control or numeric control machines to perform drilling, reaming, tapping, milling, boring and other machine operations over a wide range of surfaces, diameters and depths.
The positioning in all axis and the changing of preset tools are preprogrammed to automatically follow the pre-established methods.
The setups on some jobs are complicated and require milling to close tolerances.
Operator must determine proper operation sequence, select and adjust tools in adapters, and mounts in storage matrix (drum).
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

* * Performs all the duties of a MACHINE OPERATOR as listed in that job description, PLUS: * Perform setups based on process sheets and setup documentation.
* Perform 1st piece production prove-out.
* Troubleshoot and resolve production/machining issues.
* Download part programs into machine controls.
*QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION* * Meets all the qualifications of a MACHINE OPERATOR as listed in that job description, PLUS: * 3-5 years demonstrated ability to set up and operate CNC Mills/Lathes, conventional mills/lathes and various hand tools as required in a machine shop environment.
* Ability to identify/correct production machining issues * High school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience *LANGUAGE SKILLS* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively communicate information with managers and other employees, both orally and in writing.
*MATHEMATICAL SKILLS* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as rate, ratio, interest and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
*REASONING ABILITY* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee is occasionally exposed to uncomfortable cold or heat.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
