*POSITION FUNCTION*
Responsible, under general supervision, for partial set up and operation of two or more multiple spindle davenport machines that turn, form, and thread externally and internally cylindrical objects from metal bar stock.
Job is performed in a machine shop environment.
Requires lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.
Must furnish own hand tools, (screw drivers, pliers, etc.
) and micrometers.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
*
* Remove, reset, replace, and sharpen machine tools with surface and/or pedestal grinders to maintain quality of production in accordance with specifications.
* Use all dimensional measuring equipment (standard gages, over screen charts, micrometers, calipers, etc.
) to verify conformance of machined components to item specifications.
* Refer to in-process drawings of machined components and defect list for definition of relevant dimensional tolerances and quality characteristics.
* Use a basket system to insure effective sampling of the quality of machined components.
* Stop and start machines to maintain quality of items being produced and maintain necessary production efficiency.
* Load davenport machines with bar stock or previously machined components.
* Maintain fluid levels needed to insure proper machine tool, or machine lubrication as well as safe and efficient davenport operation.
* Remove metal shavings and chips from davenport machines as deemed necessary to maintain safe and efficient operation.
* Perform all routine maintenance on davenport machines and learn to do all maintenance and related work on davenport machines.
* Learn to and do set ups from layouts, davenport machines to produce components to blueprint and dimensional tolerances from bar stock or previously machined components.
* Learn to instruct less experienced operators and trainees in adjustment and operation of davenport machines.
* Performs any related duties as required or assigned.
*QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION*
* Must have five (5) years of experience operating Davenport machines.
* Acme Screw Machine experience a plus.
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
