Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Arabic at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning in July 2024.
Ph.
D.
in Arabic Language and Literature, Comparative Literature, Middle Eastern Studies, or a closely related field is required.
ABD candidates near completion of the dissertation may also be considered.
The Ph.
D.
must be completed by the time of employment.
The successful candidate will have native or near-native proficiency in Arabic, a demonstrated record of teaching excellence in Arabic as a second language, and a promising research agenda.
Field of specialization is open.
The Arabic program at Kenyon offers four years of Arabic instruction, and it allows students to major and minor in Arabic.
The program is looking for an energetic and innovative candidate to teach language courses at all levels and courses in the candidate’s field of expertise, e.
g.
literature, film—and to contribute to the growth of the Arabic program.
The teaching load consists of a 3/2 course schedule.

Candidates selected to move forward in the search will be asked to provide further materials, including, a writing sample in English, a statement of teaching philosophy, course evaluations from courses taught in the past 2 years, and representative syllabi.
