Afternoon Teacher
SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Lead Teacher, the Afternoon Teacher will help to maintain ratio in the classroom and assist in afternoon activities.
He/she will also help to create and maintain a classroom culture of health and safety, both physical and emotional, clearly communicate with children, staff and parents and contribute to the overall effective operation of Park Street School.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must be at least 18 years of age.
* Confident in supervising a group of young children.
* Maintain a professional attitude.
* Possess leadership qualities such as working with little supervision, showing initiative, keeping students on task and articulating directions clearly and kindly.
* Have a warm and nurturing nature; friendly, inviting, self-motivated, even-tempered and adaptable.
* Possess the ability to effectively communicate with children, staff and parents.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Help with managing children during recess/free play, preparing snack, facilitating bathroom breaks and dismissal.
* Provide students with Christ-like leadership.
* Collaborate and work in unison with other teachers.
* Maintain open communication between children, parents, and school personnel.
* Maintain a safe environment for students which may include intervening between students during disagreements.
* Attend staff meetings.
* Assist in completion of timely, neat, accurate documentation of daily sheets, toileting/diapering logs, sign-out sheets and possibly temperature logs
* Keep the room neat and orderly and perform daily cleaning duties in the classroom.
* Maintain a neat appearance
* Maintain confidentiality regarding all personal information regarding children, families and staff.
Requirements:
* Ability to maintain current CPR and 1st Aid certifications.
* Ability to pass Criminal Record Background Clearance with no exemptions.
* Maintain good physical health with the ability to perform job duties, lift 50 pounds, move quickly, bend, squat, kneel, sit on floor and reach overhead.
* Upon hire, completion of 6 hours professional growth and development each year.
WORK HOURS AND COMPENSATION:
* Monday-Friday, 2:30pm-5:45pm
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $10.
85 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
