Job Description
The College of Arts and Sciences at Ashland University seeks candidates for the part-time position as Graduate Program Coordinator for the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing and the Master of Arts in Strategic Communication and Leadership (MASCL).
This is an eleven (11) position at twenty (20) hours per week.
Reports to the program directors for MFA in Creative Writing (60%) and MA in Strategic Communication and Leadership (40%).
Maintains communications and marketing for both programs: web site content, social media promotion, email newsletters, press releases, and ads in coordination with AU Marketing.
Provides support in enrollment data, program benchmarking, data analysis, grant research.
Provides support for development of workshops, study abroad initiatives, and conferences.
Leads administrative components of MFA’s ten (10) day summer residency, including scheduling classroom space, residence hall reservations, faculty travel, check-in, copy processing, hospitality initiatives, all communications with students leading up to and following the residency, contracts, and honoraria.
Distributes admissions packets, makes calls to prospective students, and handles other recruitment initiatives.
Oversees the distribution of course materials to students and faculty.
Coordinates training and orientation of students and faculty.
Registers students.
Maintains day-to-day oversight of program budgets.
Represents the programs at open houses, conferences, and events.
Tracks alumni professional activity, including teaching appointments, job placements, promotions, publications, prizes, fellowships and grants.
Coordinates student assessment of faculty and staff.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English, Creative or Professional Writing, Marketing, or related field
Ability to maintain efficient office operations; proficiency in MS Office 365 program
Strong verbal, written, networking, digital media communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Clerical and organizational skills
Decision-making abilities and skills to follow established policy and procedure
Ability to work unsupervised and multitask under pressure
Flexibility and willingness to adapt hours as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Residence life experience preferred.
