*JOB DESCRIPTION * *MISSION STATEMENT: *To promote self-sufficiency and improve the quality of life of those in need.
*POSITION: *Teacher *DEPARTMENT: *Head Start *SUPERVISED BY: *Site Administrator *STATUS: *Non-Exempt *TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: *Regular – Part Year *JOB SUMMARY: *The Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, CLASS scores, and organizing daily experiences for children.
The Teacher promotes parent involvement and maintains contact with families.
The Teacher documents the progress of children and classroom activities.
The Teacher will conduct activities to ensure compliance with all Head Start rules and regulations; licensing laws and all funding source regulations.
The Teacher will act in a professional manner at all times.
*DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*: 1.
Implement the CACEHR Head Start Curriculum according to its design and the Head Start Performance Standards.
2.
Develop weekly lesson plans to include activities that address all developmental domains completed two weeks in advance.
3.
Complete Ages & Stages-3, Ages & Stages: SE-2, and Teaching Strategies GOLD, Early Learning Assessment, and ELA requirements; and meet designated deadlines.
4.
Administer ASQ/ASQ-SE2 and assessment of children and complete two -month follow- up when needed.
Make ongoing observations and enter into TS Gold by deadlines.
5.
Maintain CLASS scores greater than or equal to the National Average.
6.
Include health, nutrition and mental health objectives throughout the classroom activities and routines.
7.
Identify and report any suspected abuse and/or neglect to program’s designated personnel.
8.
Maintain a safe, clean and healthy classroom environment.
9.
Make a minimum of two home visits and two parent conferences per year.
10.
Promote parent involvement and encourage parent participation in program activities.
11.
Participate in staffing IEP meetings and IEP conferences for children who have disabilities.
12.
Attend and participate in scheduled parent meetings at least two times a year.

Complete monthly reports and submit by mandated deadlines.
14.
Assist in generating and tracking In-Kind.
15.
Utilize technology to enhance capacity of agency.
16.
Attend in-service training and other professional training opportunities as assigned by Site Administrator.
17.
Must understand community action and is committed to agency culture; acts as a role model.
18.
Be effective at team building and creating positive morale.
19.
Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information.
20.
Be familiar with and understand the agency’s mission, strategic plan, goals and measures.
21.
Maintain a neat, clean, professional appearance and demeanor at all times; and exercise good health habits related to personal hygiene.
22.
All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Site Administrator.
*Practice Base Coach Teacher (if applicable) * 1.
Develop and maintain positive, supportive relationships with child development staff.
2.
Develop individual coaching plans, with specific goals and areas for growth which are based on classroom and teacher observations.
3.
Provide constructive feedback and support to teaching staff for learning and growth.
4.
Observe and meet with Coachee a minimum of once a month.
*QUALIFICATIONS/EXPECTATIONS: * 1.
Bachelor or Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education.
2.
Minimum of one year work experience in an Early Childhood Program.
3.
Must possess excellent written and interpersonal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
4.
Must have computer experience and knowledge of all other office equipment.
5.
Exhibit knowledge of business communication; must have excellent spelling and grammar skills.

Must have an understanding and awareness of the needs of low-income families.
7.
Must have current certification in First Aid/CPR, Common Childhood Illnesses and Child Abuse Recognition and Prevention.

Willing to travel out-of-town and overnight for training.
9.
Must have access to operational automobile on a daily basis and proof of liability insurance.
10.
Physical exam, background check and pre-employment and random drug screen, as required.
11.
Must have physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
