JOB SUMMARY To inspect, install, repair, replace, adjust and maintain equipment in the plant.
To inspect, repair, paint, and refurbish Wyandot, Inc.
buildings and related equipment.
To maintain plant with a minimum of downtime.
RESPONSIBILITIES Performs work with a minimum of direction, assuming responsibility and authority in decision-making situations.
Makes suggestions for redesign and/or improved modification of equipment and systems.
Works from maintenance work requests, production requests, and inspections to determine needs in the area.
Area of responsibility is assigned by Maintenance Supervisor.
Works on any modifications or improvements necessary to maintain equipment, buildings and/or property.
To work with and/or assist outside contractors and technicians in repairs or installation of equipment, building and/or property.
Takes training related to areas of responsibility as outlined by management in order to achieve the highest grade level of mechanic.
Assists in on-the-job training of less skilled mechanics.
Must be able to work overtime as required.
Must abide by all plant rules and food safety regulations, including work, safety and sanitation rules.
DUTIES 1.
Receives and follows work instructions from supervision.
2.
Develops team atmosphere between Production and Maintenance.
3.
Plans work procedures, determine tools and materials required.
4.
Inspects mechanical equipment for defects; ie: misalignment, wear, etc.
5.
Determines best way of making repairs to minimize cost and interruption of production.
6.
Advises when immediate shutdown of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when continued operation will have no harmful effect.
7.
Dismantles, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles and lubricates equipment.
8.
Adjusts equipment for proper operating characteristics.
9.
Assembles and aligns gears, bearings and shafts.
10.
Records daily data of work performed.
Maintain 5s boards.
11.
Keeps working area clean and orderly.
Housekeeping and cleaning is a requirement.
12.
Performs other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Must be able to interpret and service machinery from electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic diagrams.
Must be able to repair power transmission equipment.
Must be able to follow instructions, as well as work independently.
Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
, which is necessary to repair gear boxes, motors, etc.
Supplies designated personal hand tools.
Reports to Maintenance Manager.
Must be able to work well with co-workers and supervision in a team environment.
Requires the ability to work off of platforms, which can be up to 15 feet off the ground.
Must have the manual skill and dexterity to move and work around heavy machinery throughout the plant.
Must have good basic math skills.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Must be able to communicate in English clearly in both verbal and written form.
Must be able to endure hot and cold temperatures in the work environment.
Must wear Arc flash clothing.
Requires successful tow motor licensing.
Safety shoes and earplugs are mandatory in designated areas.
Experience Requirements AA- Must have 18 months experience as an A Mechanic.
AAA- Must have a minimum of five years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment, equivalent education completed, or held a position of AA Mechanic.
All Mechanic roles must express desire to continue through the certification process to obtain next level mechanic status.
